Riga Roundtable: “The Digital Omnibus and AI Development – Building Legal Certainty for Innovation”
We are pleased to invite you to take part in the upcoming Riga Roundtable: “The Digital Omnibus and AI Development – Building Legal Certainty for Innovation”, to be held on 17 March 2026, from 13:00 to 15:00 in ATTA Centre, Krasta street 60, Riga, Latvia.
The 2025 Digital Omnibus package represents a significant and long-awaited shift in the EU’s approach to its digital regulatory framework, aiming to harmonize existing rules and clarify obligations for data use and sharing. A central component of the package focuses on delivering legal certainty when it comes to access to data for artificial intelligence (AI) training and securing the required amount of time to prepare for new regulatory requirements.
As AI innovation increasingly depends on large and diverse datasets, establishing clear and practical rules for lawful data use is essential. By providing greater legal clarity and predictability, the Digital Omnibus can enable the responsible use of IP-protected and personal data, empowering European innovators to build advanced models, create new applications, and drive cross-border collaboration. The second step toward an innovation friendly regulatory environment is providing European companies with sufficient time to translate legal requirements into practice and be ready for the regulatory scrutiny.
