AI Chamber’s Contribution to the European Commission’s Consultation on High-Risk AI Systems

As part of our ongoing commitment to shaping European AI regulation, AI Chamber has submitted its response to the Targeted Stakeholder Consultation on the implementing rules for high-risk AI systems under the AI Act.
Our contribution addressed several key issues, including:
Clarifying the definition of a “safety component” within the meaning of the AI Act.
Opposing unnecessary third-party conformity assessments where self-certification is explicitly permitted under existing EU product legislation.
Highlighting legal uncertainty around the treatment of biometric data and bias monitoring obligations, and calling for alignment with the well-established GDPR framework.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all members of the AI Chamber who generously contributed their expertise and thoughtful perspectives during the preparation of this multi-page submission. Your insights played a crucial role in shaping a comprehensive and informed document that reflects the depth and diversity of viewpoints within our community.
