AI Chamber submits Open Letter on Digital Omnibus
AI Chamber has submitted an open letter, co-signed by 12 leading business organisations from across Central and Eastern Europe, calling on the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament to not just uphold, but significantly strengthen and expand the European Commission’s proposal of the “Digital Omnibus” package.
On 19 November 2025, the European Commission presented a legislative proposal “Digital Omnibus” as part of the “Digital Simplification Package”, which also includes proposed amendments to the GDPR, the NIS2 Directive, the Data Act and several other acts. The Digital Omnibus adjusts the timetable for the main obligations, reduces administrative burdens and makes the application of the most demanding provisions conditional on the prior availability of relevant harmonised standards and implementing guidelines. Representing the collective voice of Europe’s growth-driving innovators, the signatories welcome the Commission’s ambition to simplify and harmonise digital regulation – but warn that Europe cannot afford half-measures at a moment of decisive global technological competition.
