Commentary on the Draft Slovak Law Implementing the EU AI Act – Regulatory Sandboxes

The AI Chamber has prepared a commentary on Slovakia’s draft law implementing the EU AI Act. Our main concern is the absence of binding provisions on regulatory sandboxes, which are essential for supporting innovation and SMEs in the AI sector.
Regulatory sandboxes are one of the few measures in the AI Act that can bring immediate and tangible benefits to the Slovak AI ecosystem. They allow companies to test their systems in a safe, supervised environment and are crucial for ensuring that Slovakia remains competitive in the rapidly developing AI landscape.
We recommend that Slovakia establish both national and regional sandboxes without delay, with simplified admission procedures and clear criteria — especially to support SMEs and start-ups.
