Cyber24Day 2025: Breaking the “Mental Barrier” to AI Innovation in Poland

Earlier this month, AI Chamber’s Public Policy Director, Marcin Olender, took part in Cyber24Day in Warsaw — one of Poland’s leading conferences focused on cybersecurity, innovation, and digital transformation.
The discussion, featured in the article “A Painful Diagnosis of Polish AI – Experts Raise the Alarm” (Bolesna diagnoza polskiego AI – eksperci biją na alarm) on CyberDefence24.pl, brought together experts to examine the current state of AI development and cybersecurity in Poland.
During the debate, Marcin Olender highlighted one of the key barriers slowing technological progress in Poland — a “mental barrier” to innovation.
“The Polish government likes to spend gigantic money on an imported tank. Yet, investing in small, innovative startups becomes a huge mental problem.” — Marcin Olender, AI Chamber
This mindset, he noted, drives many high-potential Polish AI companies to seek opportunities abroad, slowing local innovation and undermining Poland’s technological sovereignty.
To compete globally, Poland must foster a culture of risk-taking, trust in domestic innovation, and stronger collaboration between public institutions and private companies.
Marcin Olender’s participation reflects AI Chamber’s ongoing commitment to shaping national and regional discussions on AI policy, cybersecurity, and digital growth, helping to ensure that innovation in Central and Eastern Europe continues to advance responsibly and effectively.
